Description

Introducing the Supro 1695T Black Magick, a remarkable homage to one of the most coveted amplifiers in rock and roll history. This all-tube, high-gain blues powerhouse echoes the aesthetics and circuitry of the iconic 1959 Supro amps, designed to replicate the very one Jimmy Page donated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum.

The Black Magick's design takes inspiration from the '59 Supro 2x10, adapting it into a 1x12 combo and equipping it with a specially developed, British-voiced speaker. This 25-watt combo exudes an authentic vintage aura with its streamlined front-end topology and automatic linking of channels 1 and 2 when using the first input jack. This feature not only doubles the gain when used with a single instrument, but also enables two instruments to share the Black Magick or use an A/B/Y box for on-the-fly channel switching.

Unleashing more gain than any other Supro reissue, the Black Magick is a beast when it comes to heavy blues and classic rock guitar styles. Its traditional, cathode-biased "Class-A" power section employs 6973 tubes, renowned for their distinctive midrange grind and outstanding touch dynamics. From warm cleans to heavy distortion, the Black Magick offers a complete spectrum of tones simply by adjusting the volume knob on your instrument. To top it off, the amp's signature Supro power tube tremolo adds footswitchable depth and dimension, making the Black Magick a truly historic rock and roll machine.

Key Features:

  • High-gain, all-tube amplifier reminiscent of the iconic 1959 Supro amps

Supro 1695T Black Magick Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Supro 1695T Black Magick is a gritty, attitude-filled amp perfect for capturing those classic Valco tones reminiscent of early Zeppelin. With its aggressive upper-mid presence, it excels at emphasizing pick attack, making it ideal for punk-rock sensibilities. The build quality is solid, and the retro aesthetic is a nice touch. However, it's not the cheapest option for a small combo, and the lack of beefy bass might not suit everyone. Despite its modern construction, it remains a faithful nod to its vintage predecessors. A pricy but spellbinding choice for blues and early rock enthusiasts.

SUPRO 1695T Black Magick combo

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The Supro 1695T Black Magick combo is a nostalgic nod to Jimmy Page's iconic sound, offering vintage tone with modern reliability. With its touch-sensitive 25-watt class A power and dual-channel setup, it delivers rich, warm tones ideal for purists seeking that classic Page vibe. However, its volume sweet spot poses a challenge, being too loud for home use and potentially underpowered for larger gigs without miking. While it excels in studio settings or gigs with proper monitoring, its versatility depends significantly on player technique and external pedals. Despite these caveats, its authentic sound and fair pricing make it a compelling choice for those chasing vintage authenticity.

Supro 1695T Black Magick review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Supro 1695T Black Magick is a standout amp for those seeking the signature tones of Led Zeppelin's early days. With its vintage aesthetic and authentic circuitry, it captures the essence of Jimmy Page's original sound. The dynamic response and tonal versatility make it a joy for rock, blues, and roots music enthusiasts. However, the lack of an included footswitch at its price point might be a letdown for some. Overall, this amp is a beautifully crafted piece that transports musicians back to a golden era of rock.

Premier Guitar, "Richard Lloyd: The Alchemist" by Tzvi Gluckin (December 25, 2018)

Do you get your gain from letting the amp break up naturally?

Yeah. I mean, I am using some pedals live and I have been for a number of years. Lately, I’ve been using a Supro reissue. For a while I was using a Thunderbolt, and now I’m using a Black Magick. They break up pretty good, pretty early. You can pretty much get your tone out of the amp. I had about eight of them at one time. I sold a bunch off in the ’90s, but I kept my ’65 Thunderbolt. I’ve kept a number of others. They’re numbered; I don’t know the names of them. I am a big fan of Supro.

His main guitars were a Supro Black Holiday, a Vintage Guitars Strat-style model and an Epiphone Casino, which he plugged into a Vox AC30 and a Supro Black Magick.

Adds a spring reverb: https://www.suprousa.com/amplifiers/black-magick-reverb/black-magick-reverb-combo

The Black Magick Reverb Combo embodies the all-tube snarl and sweetness that define the Supro sound. Featuring analog spring reverb, 2-band EQ, and a master volume knob, the Black Magick Reverb was designed with maximum flexibility in mind. Two independent preamp channels can be linked together using the "1 + 2" input jack to obtain fat tone, while utilizing only Input 2 will yield a more agile sound. The Black Magick Reverb’s 3-spring reverb pan is driven by both channels and then summed with the dry signal just before the master volume control. An updated, tube-based LFO circuit provides bias-modulated output tube tremolo with double the speed range of the original Black Magick. Also available in head format with matching extension cabinet.
