Trapeze is a pioneering English rock band originating from Wolverhampton in 1968. Known for their dynamic blend of rock, blues rock, funk rock, hard rock, and psychedelic blues-rock, the group was initially formed by John Jones (vocals) and Terry Rowley (guitar/keyboard), both former members of the Montanas. The lineup that gained the most recognition included Mel Galley (guitar/vocals), Glenn Hughes (bass/vocals), and Dave Holland (drums). Trapeze became influential for their innovative fusion of rock and funk, a sound that would inspire bands like ZZ Top, despite achieving only modest commercial success. Over the years, the band saw several lineup changes, with Hughes departing to join Deep Purple and Galley later joining Whitesnake.
