About
Krux is a Swedish doom metal supergroup that emerged from the rich metal landscape of Sweden. Formed in 2002, the group is a collaboration of seasoned musicians, including Mats Levén (vocals), known for his work with Yngwie Malmsteen and Abstrakt Algebra; Jörgen Sandström (guitar), from Entombed and Grave; Leif Edling (bass), the driving force behind Candlemass and Abstrakt Algebra; and Peter Stjärnvind (drums), also from Entombed. The band delves into genres like doom metal, sludge metal, and neo-traditional doom, crafting a sound that resonates with heavy, slow-paced riffs and dark, brooding atmospheres.
How to Sound Like Krux
Krux's sound is marked by crushingly heavy and slow guitar riffs, creating an oppressive yet immersive sonic experience. This is often achieved through the use of PRS McCarty 594 guitars, which deliver rich, sustaining tones ideal for doom metal’s dense textures. To enhance their oppressive and atmospheric soundscapes, MXR M169 Carbon Copy delay pedals add depth and echo, while the Marshall JVM410HJS Joe Satriani Tube Guitar Amp Head provides the warm, tube-driven distortion that is pivotal for their genre’s characteristic weight. The combination of these elements results in a sound that is both darkly melodic and relentlessly heavy, embodying the very essence of doom metal.
