Originally formed in Toronto in 1967, the group consisted of Canadians Rick Danko (bass, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophone), Richard Manuel (keyboards, drums, vocals), Robbie Robertson (guitar, vocals), and American Levon Helm (drums, vocals). Rising to fame after collaborating with Bob Dylan on his "Going Electric" tours, The Band's unique sound was crystallized in albums like Music From Big Pink and The Band. Their contributions to music have been recognized with inductions into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award.
