About

The Bravery is a dynamic rock band that emerged from the vibrant New York City post-punk revival of the early 2000s. Known for their fusion of rock, alternative dance, indie rock, and dance-punk, the group was founded by school friends Sam Endicott (vocals, guitar) and John Conway (keyboards). Their lineup was completed with Michael Zakarin (guitar), Mike Hindert (bass), and Anthony Burulcich (drums). With influences spanning from electronica to shoegaze, The Bravery crafted infectious tracks like "An Honest Mistake" and "Believe," which became staples on radio stations. Their music, a blend of stylish '80s punk/new wave and introspective lyrics, saw them rise quickly in both the NYC and UK scenes, leading to a series of critically acclaimed albums.

How to Sound Like The Bravery

The Bravery’s sound is characterized by its energetic and punchy blend of clean and dirty tones, interspersed with melodic hooks and rhythmic drive. Their music often layers crisp, driving guitar riffs with the help of guitars like the Gibson Les Paul Custom and Fender Jazzmaster, delivering a powerful yet polished sound. Effects such as the Boss DD-6 Digital Delay and Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer contribute to their vibrant sonic landscape, injecting both delay-driven depth and gritty overdrive into their tracks. Their dynamic rhythm section, bolstered by funky bass lines and tight drumming, keeps the energy high, making their music both danceable and introspective.
