Love this idea.

Design Idea: Adding little artist thumbnails to citation activity items

Idea for making the "news feed" more inviting would be to show a little thumbnail of the artist spotted using a certain gear item in the condensed form of the item.

Something like this:

Or this:

Fender Jazzmaster, Jaguar or Mustang?

The TVL Jazzmaster linked above plays like a dream. I spent hours jamming on one at a store recently.

In the end I bought a Squire J. Mascis Jazzmaster, which costs about 35% as much and also plays and sounds great. Love that guitar: http://equipboard.com/items/squier-j-mascis-jazzmaster?src=pim_name

Reviews shouldn't require a body

Yeah, I find myself annoyed at having to write a "review" separate from the title. I think title's in general a kind of artifact from print publishing. The reviews should just be a single text box, maybe even with a character limit, like a tweet!

Market price

Reverb.com has an API for that: https://reverb.com/page/api

Why doesn't one receive any credit for adding gear?

I agree that'd be great!

Recommend a Reverb?

I think I found a Cathedral used on Reverb.com for about $120-130.

Recommend a Reverb?

I have the Eventide Space. It is gorgeous and crazy, but it's also got a big emphasis on "big sounds". If you're looking for something more pedal-y than rack-y how about an EHX Cathedral? That's a pretty solid reverb unit for half the cost.

Keeley electronics pedals-Any good?

I'd very much like to buy a 4-knob compressor, but they're so expensive!

Introduction

What kind of music do you like to work on?

So many effect pedals, so little cash!

Thanks for the tip, just found one of these on Reverb for $125! There's several selling for $150 or so.

If you're into Fuzz, check out anything from Stomp Under Foot. They make great-sounding clones of every flavor of Big Muff circuit ever made. I've got this one and just love it:

Kevin Shields Gear Project Thread

Ok. I just took my first pass through the two links with photos of his 2008 live rig. I got everything except the items that aren't currently listed in Equiboard. Those are:

  • Devi Ever Dream Mangler
  • Pete Cornish Kevin Shields fuzz
  • Z.Vex Johnny Octave
  • Catalinbread Ottava Magus
  • Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz
  • MG Effects That’s Echo Folks
  • Death By Audio Octave Clang
  • Boss TW-1
  • SIB Nick Nitro
  • Roger Mayer Voodoo-1
  • Pete Cornish ST-2
  • Devi Ever White Spider
  • Dr. Scientist Tremolessence
  • Electro-Harmonix Triangle Big Muff Pi
  • Shere Sound Whirligig
  • Roger Mayer Mongoose X
  • Vorg Warp Sound
  • Malekko Echo 600

So that stuff all needs to get entered into Equipboard at some point.

Still do do, his amps from the one pic.

Kevin Shields Gear Project Thread

Kevin Shields has a ton of gear and there's lots of documentation for it all over the internet. Getting it all entered into Equipboard is going to take some time, so why not split up the work? I'm going to post the links to the various sources in this thread and then update the thread when things get added. Please join in so we can get this done.

Idea: Be able to tag photos with link to the gear

This is a really good idea. Users should be able to upload Gear Setup photos to artist pages and then when they tag stuff, it appears on the artists's profile page if its not on there already.

Also, just generally letting people tag gear photos with the actual gear would make the photos very rich and interesting. Imagine using those tags to then generate "Similar gear photos", which would be other gear photos that have some of the same stuff. That'd be fun. Click click click.
