Aristides Guitars is a Dutch guitar manufacturer based in Haarlem, Netherlands, founded in 2007 by Aristides Poort. The company is known for building instruments out of Arium, a proprietary non-wood composite developed in collaboration with Delft University of Technology. Arium is engineered to dampen frequencies in a way inspired by traditional tonewoods while remaining more stable and resistant to humidity changes, and Aristides uses a shell-and-core construction that combines Arium with fiber layers to control weight and resonance.
The lineup centers on the 0-series solidbody electrics — including the six-string 010 and 060, the seven-string 070, and the eight-string 080 — alongside the H-series headless models, offset body shapes, and the 050 five-string bass. The brand also produces an artist signature series, the STX, developed with Mike Stringer of Spiritbox. Instruments are offered as custom builds with a wide range of pickup, hardware, and finish options, including raw Arium and painted finishes.
Aristides has built a following in progressive and modern metal circles, with an endorser roster that includes Ihsahn, Devin Townsend, Mike Stringer (Spiritbox), Tor Oddmund Suhrke (Leprous), and Dutch rock guitarist Adrian Vandenberg, who helped introduce the brand at Winter NAMM 2010.
Aristides Guitars has 30 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Solid Body Electric Guitars, Extended Range Guitars, and Electric Basses. Their gear is featured by 35 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Metal, and Jazz. Notable users include Mike Stringer, Matt Heafy, and Andrew Baena. Most Aristides Guitars products sit firmly in the high-end, boutique range.
