Big Ear is a boutique effects pedal company founded by Grant Wilson and Karen Schierhorn. The brand began in New York City — originally operating as "BIG EAR n.y.c." — after Wilson, a former drummer and guitarist with Brooklyn indie band The Click Clack Boom, asked Schierhorn to illustrate a blank guitar pedal enclosure. The result was a line-art bunny cranking gears, which became the brand's signature mascot. After five years in New York (Lower East Side, then Brooklyn), the pair relocated to Nashville, Tennessee and dropped the geographic identifier in June 2018, becoming simply "BIG EAR pedals." They have since moved to Ohio.

Big Ear specializes in hand-wired guitar effects pedals with a minimalist graphic aesthetic and playful naming conventions. Their lineup includes the Woodcutter distortion (inspired by a 1988 DOD 250-era classic), the Loaf fuzz (named after the way their pet rabbit tucks its legs under itself), the Black Betty fuzz, the Frank low-gain overdrive, the Elle reverb, the Albie ambient modulator, the Slice of Pie fuzz (a collaboration with The Tone Mob podcast, shaped like a pizza slice), the Chaka octave fuzz with hand-matched germanium diodes, the Z-Delay analog delay, and the More More More triple boost. The Woodcutter has been their best-selling pedal.
