Founded by Jeff and Cathy Genzler in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1984, Genz Benz built a reputation as a respected manufacturer of bass, electric guitar, and acoustic guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets. The company earned particular acclaim in the bass amplification world with product lines like the Shuttle series — ultra-lightweight heads delivering up to 900 watts in packages weighing as little as four pounds — and the Streamliner series, which paired all-tube class-A preamp sections with class-D power amps for warm tube tone in a compact format. Other notable lines included the GBE bass series, the El Diablo tube guitar amplifiers (capable of running EL34, 6L6, or 5881 power tubes), and the Shenandoah acoustic amplifier range.

Kaman Music Corporation (KMC) acquired Genz Benz in 2003 and served as its exclusive distributor. In late 2007, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation purchased Kaman, bringing Genz Benz under the Fender umbrella. Operations were discontinued in 2013 after nearly three decades of production. Jeff Genzler later launched Genzler Amplification, continuing his amplifier design work independently. Genz Benz equipment remains sought after on the used market, particularly the Shuttle and Streamliner bass heads, and maintains a loyal following among bass players.

Genz Benz has 17 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Bass Amplifier Heads, Guitar Amplifier Cabinets, and Bass Combo Amplifiers. Their gear is featured by 12 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Folk, World, & Country, and Funk / Soul. Notable users include Prince, Tim Lash, and Jimmy Lanwern.
