Hybrid Guitars Co. is a North Carolina–based luthier collective that builds hybrid bass/guitar instruments designed for players who want to cover bass lines, chords, and melodies simultaneously on a single neck. The company was formed in 2015 when guitarist Charlie Hunter — long associated with seven- and eight-string hybrid instruments — joined forces with luthiers Clay Conner and Wes Lambe to produce fanned-fret instruments to his specifications. Conner had previously apprenticed at Hamer Guitars and with Ralph Novak before founding his own shop, while Lambe had built seven- and eight-string and baritone acoustic instruments for players such as Pat Metheny and Sean Lennon.

The core catalog includes the Hybrid 6, Hybrid 7, and Hybrid 8, along with a Baritone 6 model. The defining feature of the lineup is a split-register design: the lower three strings are tuned as a bass and routed through dedicated bass circuitry, while the upper three, four, or five strings function as a standard guitar with its own output, letting a single player perform bass and guitar parts at the same time. The instruments use fanned frets under license from Novax Guitars and feature carbon-fiber-reinforced maple necks.
