Founded by luthier Dennis Fano in 2001 in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, Fano Guitars is an American boutique guitar maker known for blending elements of classic vintage designs into distinctive original instruments. Dennis Fano honed his craft repairing guitars at the renowned Matt Umanov Guitar Shop on Bleecker Street in New York before striking out on his own. The brand's flagship Alt de Facto line — which draws from the DNA of Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, and Rickenbacker designs — quickly attracted a devoted following among professional musicians, including Walter Becker of Steely Dan, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, Gary Clark Jr., Nels Cline and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Matthew Followill of Kings of Leon, and Jared Scharff of Saturday Night Live's house band.
