Jolana is a Czech electric guitar and bass manufacturer based in Hořovice, Czech Republic. The brand traces its origins to around 1960, when Czechoslovak engineers adapted early pickup designs pioneered at Resonet into a production line of electric instruments. From 1968 onward, serial manufacturing took place at the Harmonika factory in Hořovice, making Jolana the dominant electric guitar maker of the Eastern Bloc and a frequent export to Western Europe. The brand became known for distinctive, often idiosyncratic designs such as the Grazioso, Tornado, Star and Diamant, the last of which took visual cues from the Les Paul.
After production under the original state-run operation wound down in the early 1990s, the Hořovice facility shifted to OEM work for other manufacturers. The Jolana name was later revived by NBE Corp., which resumed building guitars in Hořovice under the historical brand. Current production continues models rooted in the original catalog — including the Tornado, Rakete, Diamant II, Grazioso II and Star X — alongside basses such as the Dos Hombres and a custom shop program.
Jolana also produces a range of artist signature instruments, with models developed in collaboration with Billy F. Gibbons of ZZ Top, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Till Lindemann of Rammstein, Niclas Engelin, and Czech rock guitarist Ota Váňa of Kabát. The brand occupies a niche built on Czech manufacturing heritage and vintage-inspired body shapes rather than mainstream production-guitar styling.
Jolana has 17 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Electric Basses, Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitars, and Solid Body Electric Guitars.
