Founded by Burkhard Georg Lehle, a guitarist with a background in music and physics, Lehle is a German manufacturer based in Voerde that specializes in audio signal-routing equipment for musicians. The company grew out of Lehle's guitar repair workshop in Duisburg, where direct feedback from local players revealed a need for switchers that could operate without signal loss or noise. The first A/B and A/B/C switchers were hand-soldered in 1999 and officially launched to the market in 2001, quickly establishing the brand as a go-to name for high-quality switching solutions.
Lehle's product line centers on switchers (AB, ABY, ABC), effects loopers like the D.Loop series, signal splitters and isolators such as the P-Split and P-ISO, and the Sunday Driver buffer/booster. The company also produces volume and expression pedals built around wear-free hall-sensor technology, as well as the Basswitch line for bass players. A hallmark of Lehle's engineering is the proprietary LEHLE TRANSFORMER HZ, manufactured in-house, which provides galvanic isolation to eliminate ground loop hum — a persistent problem when running multiple amplifiers.
Lehle pedals are a fixture on professional pedalboards worldwide. Artists spanning genres from jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and Supertramp's Carl Verheyen to Meshuggah's Fredrik Thordendal, Soundgarden's Kim Thayil, and Joe Bonamassa rely on Lehle switching products for their live rigs.
Lehle has 36 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Switch Effects Pedals, Volume Effects Pedals, and Effects Pedal Accessories. Their gear is featured by 157 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Electronic. Notable users include Matthias Jabs, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Peter Honoré. Most Lehle products sit firmly in the high-end, boutique range.
