The company traces its roots to 1960, when Joachim Kiesler and two watchmakers founded a trade production cooperative that was nationalized in 1972 as the GDR-owned VEB Musikelectronic Geithain. After German reunification, Kiesler and former colleagues reprivatized the operation in 1992 as musikelectronic geithain gmbh, which he continues to lead.
