Founded in 2002 by Dan Boul and guitarist Peter Stroud in North Hollywood, California, 65 Amps specializes in hand-wired, tube-powered guitar and bass amplifiers designed to deliver rich vintage tone at lower, stage-friendly volumes. The company grew out of a collaboration in Boul's garage, where the pair set out to build an amp that could hold its own alongside in-ear monitoring systems on major tours — Stroud needed something that sounded full and dynamic without overwhelming the stage as a touring guitarist for Sheryl Crow. The brand debuted publicly at the 2004 Winter NAMM Show and has built a following among players who prize classic British-voiced tone in a compact, reliable package.

65 Amps' lineup spans several product lines. The Blue Line includes flagship models like the London (an 18-watt EL84-powered amp), the Marquee Club (a 35-watt design with tube rectification), the Tupelo, Stone Pony, and the Empire, which targets the character of classic Marshall Superlead and JCM800 tones. The Red Line offers the London Pro, Ventura, and SoHo, while the Black Line features The Whiskey and Lil' Whiskey. On the bass side, the Apollo won Bass Gear Magazine's Outstanding Amp award. The company also produces a line of effects pedals — the Colour Boost, Colour Face, and Colour Bender. All amplifiers are built using Mercury Magnetics transformers and mil-spec wiring techniques.

Notable players associated with 65 Amps include Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and Vince Gill, alongside co-founder Stroud himself.

65 Amps has 27 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Guitar Amplifier Heads, Combo Guitar Amplifiers, and Guitar Amplifier Cabinets.
