Phonic is a Taiwanese professional audio manufacturer founded in 1977 by Stephen Minlie Wang. Headquartered in Taipei with offices in Shanghai and Tampa, Florida, the company first gained prominence as a dominant force in DJ mixer production, at one point supplying over 85% of the total DJ mixers sold worldwide. Throughout the 1980s, Phonic operated as an OEM supplier to various audio companies, including a technology transfer and OEM cooperation with Yamaha beginning in 1986. In the 1990s, the company transitioned to developing and marketing its own branded product lines.
