Founded in 1995 by Ron Neely II in Bloomington, Indiana, RonSound is one of the original boutique effects pedal builders. Ron personally assembles and tests every pedal in his shop, specializing in faithful reproductions of classic vintage circuits alongside custom builds and vintage effects repairs. A self-described electronics technician, bassist, and oddball guitar/bass collector, Ron once owned what he claims was the largest collection of vintage Electro-Harmonix gear in the world, numbering over 100 pieces.

RonSound's flagship pedal is the Hairpie, a Big Muff clone available in several variants based on different eras of the original circuit — the Classic (early 1970s triangle knob), the '75 (Ram's Head era), and the '81 version — with over 300 units sold across its various iterations. The Stone Machine, a Foxx Tone Machine clone, was notably the first reproduction to offer footswitchable octave. Other models in the lineup include the Fuzz-O-Matic (a Mosrite Fuzzrite clone using NOS germanium transistors), the Trem-O-Matic tremolo, the Foxey Axis fuzz, the Flender, the Distort-O-Matic, and the Squeeze-O-Matic compressor, among others. All RonSound effects feature true-bypass switching and BOSS-style DC connectors as standard. Beyond pedals, RonSound sells vintage amplifier and effects schematics, PCBs, and parts.
