Founded in 2011 by Tim Webster in North London, Fredric Effects is a boutique guitar pedal company specializing in hand-built effects that draw heavily on rare and vintage circuits. Many of the pedals in the lineup are faithful recreations of hard-to-find classics — the Deeply Unpleasant Companion clones the Shin-Ei FY-2 Companion Fuzz, the King of Klone replicates the Klon Centaur, the Harmonic Percolator recreates the Interfax HP-1, and the Scrambled Brainz tackles the Ampeg Scrambler. Other models like the Regent 150 Preamp explore more obscure territory, capturing the sound of rare East German amplifiers. Original designs round out the range, including the Dresden Synth Fuzz, the BugCrusher analog sample-rate reducer, and the Do The Weasel Stomp.

The pedals are built individually using PCB construction, high-quality switches, and custom-made enclosures with professional powder coating and screen printing, all sourced from local North London companies. Fredric Effects also operates Cloak Audio as an offshoot brand for more experimental and complex designs, such as the Jackdaw Esoteric Synth Fuzz. The brand's design philosophy favors compact, MXR-sized enclosures with minimal controls and distinctive original artwork.

Fredric Effects pedals have found their way onto the pedalboards of artists in bands such as Kurt Vile, Biffy Clyro, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Foals, Bombay Bicycle Club, Future of the Left, Marmozets, and The Darkness.
