D*A*M (Differential Audio Manifestationz) is a boutique effects pedal operation based in South Yorkshire, England, founded by David Main. The company specializes in hand-built fuzz pedals that draw heavily on late-1960s British circuits, particularly the various Tone Bender variants, and is known for simple, point-to-point construction and a focus on vintage-voiced tones rather than modern feature sets.
The D*A*M catalog centers almost entirely on dirt boxes. Models include the Meathead and Meathead Deluxe silicon fuzz machines, the Sonic Titan power-amp-style distortion, the Professional MKII (a Tone Bender MKII replica), the Fuzz Sound MKIII and MKIV, the Ezekiel 25:17 low-frequency distortion generator aimed at bass players, the Grease Box germanium overdrive, the Red Rooster germanium booster, and the Super Bee germanium fuzz. Limited production runs and small batches have given many of these pedals strong demand on the secondhand market.
Alongside the D*A*M brand, David Main has built effects under contract for Sola Sound Ltd and runs a related side imprint called Emanating Fist Electronics (EFE). Much of the work has historically been done in collaboration with Linzi Haynes, who assembled hundreds of units over more than a decade of the brand's output.
D*A*M has 13 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Fuzz Effects Pedals, Boost Effects Pedals, and Bass Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 9 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Metal, and Classical. Notable users include Josh Klinghoffer, J Mascis, and Matt Pike.
