Shergold is an English electric guitar and bass manufacturer founded in October 1967 by former Burns London employees Jack Golder and Norman Houlder as Shergold Woodcrafts Limited. Originally based in East London and later Harold Wood, the company spent its early years producing instruments for other brands, including Hayman for Dallas Arbiter, Burns London, Ned Callan, and Rosetti. After the Hayman contract ended in 1975, Shergold used its remaining stock to launch guitars under its own name, becoming notable as one of the few volume producers of electric guitars and basses made entirely in England during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Modulator series, with its modular pickup and electronics options, and the Marathon six-string bass are among the brand's best-known vintage instruments.

Shergold scaled back guitar production in 1982 as the UK guitar market contracted, returning to general joinery and producing instruments only to custom order. In 2015 the brand was acquired by Brian Cleary and Bruce Perrin of Barnes & Mullins, the original UK distributor, and was relaunched in 2017 with new designs developed under the guidance of British luthier Patrick James Eggle.

The instruments are designed in the UK and aim to combine the offset and original body shapes associated with the brand's 1970s output with contemporary appointments and hardware.
