Sound Devices is an American professional audio manufacturer founded in 1998 by Matt Anderson, Jon Tatooles, Jim Koomar, and Brad Lovett, all former Shure employees. Headquartered in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, with additional offices in Madison, Wisconsin and the UK, the company specializes in portable and installed production sound equipment primarily used in film, television, broadcast, and field recording. It became part of the Audiotonix Group in 2021 and acquired UK wireless microphone maker Audio Limited in 2018.

The company is best known for its rugged portable mixer-recorders and multitrack field recorders. Flagship product lines include the MixPre II series of compact recorders aimed at podcasters, musicians, and location sound mixers; the 8-Series (including the 833, 888, and Scorpio) for high-track-count production sound; the 700-series recorders (such as the 744T and 788T) that became industry standards on film sets; and the A20 wireless microphone system developed in conjunction with Audio Limited. The 970 is a rack-mounted multichannel Dante recorder used in installed and post-production environments.

Sound Devices gear has a long-standing reputation in professional location sound for film and television, and the company has received multiple Cinema Audio Society Technical Achievement Awards, a Resolution Magazine Award for the 788T, and an SVC Innovative Product Award for the PIX 270i. Its recorders have been used on productions such as Birdman, The Dark Knight, Breaking Bad, and Doctor Who.
