Founded by brothers B.J. and Joe Buchalter in Safety Harbor, Florida, Metric Halo is a professional audio company specializing in high-end audio interfaces, converters, and signal processing software. The company introduced the Mobile I/O 2882 in 2001 — one of the first FireWire audio interfaces designed for the Macintosh — and has built a reputation around "future-proof" hardware design, engineering its interfaces to accept periodic hardware upgrades as computer technology evolves. The flagship ULN-8 mkIV, along with the LIO-8 and LIO-8/4p mkIV interfaces, features premium microphone preamps, AD/DA conversion, and onboard DSP processing.

On the software side, Metric Halo produces SpectraFoo, a comprehensive metering and analysis suite used extensively in live sound and broadcast, as well as a range of mixing plugins including ChannelStrip, HaloVerb, Character, TransientControl, Multiband Dynamics, and Precision DeEsser. These are available individually or as the MH Production Bundle in VST-3, AU, and AAX formats. The company also offers Thump, a free sub-harmonic synthesizer plugin.

Metric Halo gear has found a home with Grammy-winning engineers and producers working across genres. Engineer Rich Breen has used the ULN-8 on recordings for the Yellowjackets and Herbie Hancock, while producer Gareth Jones — known for his work with Depeche Mode, Erasure, and Interpol — relies on Metric Halo preamps and conversion for his tracking chain.

Metric Halo has 11 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Audio Interfaces, Enhancer Plugins, and Channel Strip Plugins. Their gear is featured by 20 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Pop, and Hip Hop. Notable users include Burna Boy, Ariana Grande, and Justin Bieber.
