Veleno Guitars is an American maker of aluminum-bodied electric guitars based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The company was founded by John Veleno, a machinist and manufacturing engineer who built aluminum electrical housings for the Space Shuttle program at nearby Cape Canaveral. After crafting his first all-aluminum guitar in the late 1960s, Veleno went on to produce roughly 200 hand-machined instruments between 1970 and 1978, making them among the first production aluminum guitars ever built. Each body was milled from a 17-pound block of 6061 aluminum down to about two and a half pounds, with two hollow halves joined at the center and held together by the bridge and neck hardware — no welds.

The original instruments became collector pieces known for their distinctive headstock with a star inlay, anodized finishes, and exceptional durability on the road. Vintage Velenos have been owned by players including Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Todd Rundgren, Gregg Allman, and Ace Frehley. The brand has since been revived by the Veleno family, with a Legacy reissue of the original six-string design and a limited-run Ankh model that John Veleno built before his passing. New instruments are produced in small batches and sold through a small network of boutique dealers.
