Your Absurd Guitar Designs

Thats tasty! I much prefer that over the Jagstang, I find that just looks a little too janky for me. I've not seen any HB sized wide range single coils on the market though, so good luck finding one! Drop me a line if you do!

Now the jazz and jag casters, which way round would you do them? Strat body with JM trem and the appropriate jazz/jag pickups or jazz/jag body with 3 single coils and a strat trem?

What pedal completes you?

Picking between your children is always hard. But I've gotta go with my line6 DL-4. I'm not really sure how I got by without it before.

Your Absurd Guitar Designs

For some reason this threads come to the top of the list after 2 years? I wasn't here back then, but moding guitars is something I love doing and I've always wanted to make a fully custom model!

The two ideas I'm hot for atm are a reverse explorer styled into an "evil" Jazzmaster and a tele with built in effects like a pog or a delay (annoying fender have very recently don't that exact thing)

2yover 2 years ago

anyone know what pedals these are?

Hard to tell. Looking at the rest of their Instagram and the comments, the like to re house pedals and don't answer the comments that ask what they are. Have you got any specific songs that you wanna get the sound of? Might be able to identify what they're using (or at least get you in the right ball park) that way

Does anyone know the two guitars this man uses?

As a genuine answer to your question, I think your best bet is to ask in the youtube comments, I can't see any identifiable marks on either as whats whats :(

Post Your Personal Gear

If thats the reason then definitely check out the boss katana series! The mini has 3 gain stages and delay and the katana 50s have 5 gain stages and multiple inbuilt effects!

Post Your Personal Gear

As far as I know, Boss tend to be pretty global so it might surprise you. Orange amps are pretty good too, not my personal vibe but it all comes down to what your tastes are.

If your looking at guitar amps, check out the boss katana mini! Brilliant small practice amp to get you started.

Ah, that sucks about the Varitone, and yeah, definitely need a new amp then!

Post Your Personal Gear

Looks like a pretty sweet jazzmaster clone dude! Do you use the varitone control much? Also is the amp hissing with the pedal plugged in or just on it's own?

Changing Signal Chaining on the fly?

Dude, I don't want and am never gonna achieve high end results. I'm playing a £300 guitar through a handful of pedal that cost me a between £40 and £120 each into a battery powered 7 watt amp with a 4" speaker. I could A/B test Styrmon blue sky and a Behringer digital reverb and I wouldn't notice a difference.

You keep mentioning "extra features" but all I want is just a foot switch to re-organise 2 pedals in my chain

INSTRUMENTS

I require moderator citation, but I don't think there is a specific thread for any of the blue grass stuff. I'd suggest asking your question here in the guitars and basses and stick "mandolin" in the question maybe?

Guitar

You can get a decent korean acoustic guitar for a couple hundred semolians. Less used.

I second this opinion of Jim's. I'd also say that you'll get so much more out of having a proper steel string than you'll get out of converting over a classical.

What’s on your pedalboard

Can you stack modulations/delays/reverb on the Zoom, or do you have to pick one effect at a time to use?

What’s on your pedalboard

You know, I've been thinking the same thing 😂 I've got a wah, compressor, loop and footswitch all off board atm cause I'm out of room, so it might be time to build board No.2

What’s on your pedalboard

Recently reorganised mine: Digitech Grunge, Tone City Kaffir Lime, Tone City Golden Plexi, EHX Neo Clone, Vivlex Flanger, EHX Memory Boy, TC Electronics HoF2, Line6 DL4 and lastly Tone City Tiny Spring.

Changing Signal Chaining on the fly?

Unfortunately, they aren't small 😂 I've just about fit the one on my board. I do like the idea of stacking 2 stereo delays though 🤔

Changing Signal Chaining on the fly?

The es-8 is the dream, but I don't have the money, space or knowledge of where to even start with midi. From a very brief google search, all of the others seem to be along the same lines. Another DL4 would also be awesome, but again lacking the funds and pedalboard real estate for that one.

Changing Signal Chaining on the fly?

Hi guys, recently bought a Line6 DL4 and it's presented me with an issue of where to put it in my chain. I want to run it after my shimmer reverb so I can loop and reverse loop the shimmer, but I also want the shimmer after the dl4 so I can volume swell into it! Are there any (budget) ABY switches or line selectors out there that will let me switch which pedal comes first out of the two?

Wide Range Pups with 4 conductors?

Cheers dude! For a bit of context, this is all for a custom guitar I'm building myself. I've acquired a taste for the wide range bucker sound from various guitars I've tried and bands I follow. Those creamery ones look pretty promising, so I'll have to have an investigate.

Wide Range Pups with 4 conductors?

Hi Guys,

Looking for some fender style wide range humbuckers that I can coil split. Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations (preferably not at "fender" prices)?

What sort of era of squier are you talking here?

3yabout 3 years ago

Post Your Personal Gear

In what way did it break, cause I've played many a bullet and I've never had any issues?

3yabout 3 years ago

Post Your Personal Gear

I'm more talking the latter runs of the series (2015 onwards). I know very little of the older stuff so I can't speak for it's quality but I know recent years have been brilliant.

3yabout 3 years ago

Post Your Personal Gear

Rubbish. Squier's Bullet Series can never be topped in value for money. £150 and worth every penny. After that, the more you pay, the less you'll notice in quality increase. Sure it won't be the Holy Grail of guitars, but they're are well built, reliable instruments that play beautifully.

Post Your Personal Gear

You sure thats even a Fender??

3yabout 3 years ago

Post Your Personal Gear

Little late to the party, but I can't resist a gear run down! Current rig is as follows: Squier VM Jazzmaster/Vintage V72H (thinline tele deluxe) into the Fender's The Bends comp, Tone City's Kaffir Lime followed with the Golden Plexi, Ehx Neo Clone and Memory boy come next, then I have the TC electronic HoF 2, the Tone City Tiny Spring and lastly the Boss RC-1 Loop (and FS-5U foot switch). Current amp is the Boss Katana Mini, but plans are in the works for a Vox of some kind, potentially the pathfinder, maybe an AC4.

Where's best for mini guitars?

Hi guys, I've been looking for a 3/4 or 1/2 size electric guitar to modify, but I don't seem to be having much luck. I've come across 2 in charity shops but I've not be quick enough and someone else has snapped them up! Any suggestions for a better place to find some, I'm looking to get half decent quality for below £75 if possible?

Delay Pedals for Tap Dancing

Strymon is amazing, I think everyone can agree on that. But I just can't justify spending 500-600 quid on a delay when I'm using a 300 quid guitar into a 40 quid spring reverb and a 80 quid amp 😂 Not to mention the amount of features it's packed with that I'd just never use, it would be a waste of a pedal.

Delay Pedals for Tap Dancing

Hi guys, I'm looking for a inexpensive delay pedal with note divisions and an external input for a tap tempo, has anyone got any suggestions??

(By inexpensive I'm meaning sub 150 as I'm looking to buy two and stack them into each other U2 style)

Best reverse + shimmer reverb pedal on a tight budget?

I believe the mini has all the same functionality, just with out the ability to toggle between, you'd need their app to transfer the "tone prints" to it. I've also just been made aware of the tc electronic Fluorescence which is a dedicated shimmer reverb.

Best reverse + shimmer reverb pedal on a tight budget?

I don't know much about reverse reverbs, but 2 great shimmers are the TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 and the Fender Marine Layer Reverb, both come in around the £120 mark (I'm not sure on the $$ amount). The HoF also comes in a mini format if your worried about pedalboard real estate!
