If you have an Apple device and you need a simple audio interface to record guitar or bass, look no further, it'll give you much better quality than a similarly priced iRig. However, if you use a PC or need more than just a 1/4" jack input and a USB out, don't get this.

This pedal is pretty easy to use, and it's not that expensive. If you want a straightforward way to have a modern metal sound, I recommend it, but if you can get yourself a good amp with high gain, just get that.
