Really underrated Pedal
The Boss ML-2 is easily one of Boss’s most underrated pedals — even more so than the famous Metal Zone. It provides an excellent tone for very heavy distortion, with plenty of gain and clarity. I didn’t have to work hard to dial in a really good sound on both of my guitars. The controls are straightforward and effective, making it quick to find the right tone. If you’re into metal or heavy music, this pedal is definitely worth trying out.

Decent
Solid distortion pedal. Maybe not the bestest of tones, but I find ways to use it. Maybe could be used it a sludgy/grungey setting?

it actually works
It sounds good when performing live; awful for recording. Tried it with a JCM 800 and a hollow body guitar; the sound I got was actually cool and energetic for punk rock. Now, I wouldn't really recommend to pair this pedal with a hollow body due to feedback issues, but I was able to control the feedback and the tone was actually pretty cool.

Really nice pedal for Metal/grunge sounds. Especially great for palm muted downpicking
First of all, I bought this pedal after hearing its immense sound on a youtube video. I am just over a first year player, and I wanted to move to more heavy music when I was looking at distortion pedals. I previously purchased a DS-2 Turbo Distortion pedal, and I was very underwhelmed with the sound, even in comparison to the DS-1. So when I purchased this pedal, I immediately tested out some Metallica riffs on my amp. I played enter sandman, because that was one of the only songs I knew at the time. But Immediately after playing with that pedal, I was very excited to learn metal riffs. This has to be one of the best metal pedals out there. The gain control on this pedal is very nice, as well as the highs and lows. I use EMG's on my guitar in conjunction with the pedal, and I can say that it is an unbeatable combo. If you are looking for a great heavy distortion pedal, and like to palm mute with Metallica riffs like Master of Puppets this is the best option in my opinion. I have recommended this pedal to all of my friends, because it is the best distortion pedal I have used thus far. After using the Ml-2 I would not go back to the "DS" series pedals.

Worst distortion pedal made
Probably the worst distortion pedal made today absolute garbage, no good settings at all.
It'll give you a modern metal sound easily
This pedal is pretty easy to use, and it's not that expensive. If you want a straightforward way to have a modern metal sound, I recommend it, but if you can get yourself a good amp with high gain, just get that.

I use this for making messy, abrasive sounds. It's pretty good for that, as much of the Lawliet guitar sound relies on that and heavy reverb, but unless you want horrible-good tones don't get one. It's fine at bedroom volume but once you get higher up it'

My all time favourite
My favourite pedal. After seeing me use it my guitar teacher said he needed to get one of his own. Great sustain, has a bite and edge with a bridge pickup, bottomless richness with the neck. Maybe it's just that I love the metal sound, but I use this pedal with blues, metal, rock, anything where I use a dirty tone. Highly recommended.
