Critic Reviews

Apogee Jam 96K Review - The GarageBand Guide.com

thegaragebandguide.com

The Apogee Jam 96k impresses with its sleek design and superb sound quality, making it a solid choice for musicians recording on the go. However, its high price point and lack of groundbreaking features compared to cheaper alternatives like the iRig HD may deter budget-conscious buyers. While it offers clear and vibrant recordings, the extra cost for a Lightning cable version feels unjustified. Overall, a reliable but pricey option in a crowded market.

macProVideo.com

macprovideo.com

The Apogee JAM 96k is a stellar upgrade for iOS musicians, offering a robust design and simple plug-and-play functionality. Its nickel-plated body exudes a professional feel, and the sound quality at 96k is a noticeable improvement, eliminating previous hum issues and integrating well with virtual instruments. While a touch of noise at high gain on desktop computers is a minor drawback, the overall performance and affordability make it a top choice for mobile recording. This compact interface is a must-have for musicians using Apple devices.

positive

Apogee MiC 96k, Jam 96k & ONE [iPad/Mac]

soundonsound.com

The Apogee JAM 96k shines as a portable, studio-quality guitar and bass input for iOS and Mac, boasting robust build quality and a sleek nickel-plate finish. Its standout features include a gain dial that mimics a valve amp's response and a locking cable to prevent disconnection during use. However, it suffers from minor latency when monitoring, which might slightly detract from the experience. Despite this, its straightforward setup and solid sound make it a great choice for musicians on the go, with the caveat that those needing more versatility should consider its sibling, the ONE, instead.

Apogee JAM 96K review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Apogee JAM 96k impresses with its robust, portable design and superb audio quality, making it a top choice for musicians looking to connect their guitars to iOS or Mac devices. Its 24bit/96kHz operation and Class-A JFET input emulate the warmth of a valve amp, providing a natural sound with dynamic range, crucial for apps like Garageband and Logic. While the review is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its seamless performance and sound fidelity, it notes few drawbacks, signaling a strong endorsement for this device.

Pretty good

If you have an Apple device and you need a simple audio interface to record guitar or bass, look no further, it'll give you much better quality than a similarly priced iRig. However, if you use a PC or need more than just a 1/4" jack input and a USB out, don't get this.

jasontmays

Underrated jam!

If you're simply recording guitar, bass or keys on your iPad or your mac this without a doubt one of the cleanest and simple interfaces money can buy. I've used a ton of interfaces but very few of them have the ease of use or sound quality that this interface has.

Moderate

Pretty welldone for a portable interface. Has its problems but gets the job done.
