for a punk band that I'm in, I like the short scale bc even though it's a bit tinnier it's easy to play and it works well for not walloping your bandmates. I think it's also got less fret buzz on the higher frets than my full-scale.

sounds great. helpful as always. i was actually looking at some ibanez models but didn't get to try any. will do so this week.

i fucking love short scales, because I am way short and have pretty small hands. 32" to 30" feels "right" to me, and it sounds boomy too. I also really like full size basses, just because they're how basses are "supposed to be".

I reeeeeeeeeally want to! I'm going to stop by a Sam Ash this weekend and try it out.

Strats are fun, so I'll look into that. My least favorite guitar I played was an Epiphone Les Paul. Don't remember exactly which model, but it was higher end, with the gray burst. My absolute favorite was the Mustang, then a high-end Strat, and then (what I'm 90% sure was a JA-90 Tele but mislabeled) a Thinline Telecaster. An interesting one I tried was a BC Rich Metal Master Warlock, but I wouldn't want it. I also had a blast tone-wise with a 335.

I really like the body shape as it's more comfortable for me and I have really small hands. Being a bass player I'm not so good at chords and I really enjoyed the feel of the short scale in the shop. I ran it through a two-channel Orange combo and got some killer tones out of the single coil pickup. I'm also pretty young so I thought the Mustang was a good fit. I most certainly did not talk to the guitar center people, because they're salespeople to start and I don't trust them, and also because they were fixing my Jaguar bass at the time. ALSO ALSO, I tried the Strat from the pack and really liked it. The bridge pickup sounded almost like the Mustang single coil.

Which one should I get? Been looking at the Affinity Strat pack from Fender, and as a later acquisition, the Mustang Duo Sonic HS.

Tried one in store. Liked the body shape, sound was ok.

up to $800 but no more. i'm thinking about a MusicMan or (if it even exists) a thunderbird 5 stringer.

right, yeah, so in terms of that my Ibanez is my ass-kicking distorted bass tone and pup strength. my jaguar is my versatile bass, and it feels WAY better to me. I might look at a 5-string, maybe a TB if I can find one.

first off, on the note of the starcaster, that's more of a sonic experiment for me.
second- I really want a rickenbacker and have for years.I wish I had that kind of money but I don't. The Schecters really interest me and I'm going to ask my local GC to try one out.n
thanks though- your acoustic story was a great help!

How should I go about it? I own two and I'm looking for another.... not to buy, of course, but to want later. Y'know?
