a giant thread about OD, Distortion and Fuzz!
we just necrobumped the shit out of this thread.
i said "we" so it doesn't look like it's my fault and mine alone.

actually, that is true. ebony fretboards are really nice but a lot of the guitars that come with them are too... metal-y.

a giant thread about OD, Distortion and Fuzz!
Boss SD-1: Favorite distortion. Ever. Period. (For guitar, at least.) Nice voicing live, wrecks small venues.
Boss DS-1: Really Really Good. Period. (In a Nirvana cover band, at least.) Buzzsaw-ish, but not terribly so- fun in an overbearing way.
Ibanez TS-9: I broke it. Must've been a bad one, it was a reissue.
EHX Big Muff Pi: Best bass distortion. Really thick, good response all around, but best midrange distortion i've hipeard on a bass pedal.

In your opinion, which one looks better? Is one more comfortable?
I like maple just because I only have rosewood gear. My rosewood fretboards are all nice, dark pieces though. Wood grain is very nice.

i went to starland in 2003 before My Chemical Romance was famous, and broke my nose.

they have 89% reviews over 3 stars on amazon, and are supposedly pretty good. they're $100 which is probably the most i can spend without stretching. OPINIONS?

i didn't even know jag guitars were short scale until now, because they look full scale.

i see that as more meme culture, if you want a pop punk thing then just put KYS or something

TO RESOLVE THIS THREAD:
I fixed the issue, by dissecting my pickup and moving some wires around. To extend the lifespan of my bass buddy, I'm gonna get a new one, probably EMG MM-style.

Yeah, just newer pickups in general- like, ones that were redesigned- sound muddy and gross to me. I really like the Gibson American humbuckers, and whatever they label as '58.
9yover 9 years ago
Jrs are nice too. They're fun to play.
The new humbuckers definitely don't do it for me. I find single coil pickups much punchier.

i ran this guitar through a tiny terror and a DS-1 one time, at a friends, and it sounded like grunge heaven.
9yover 9 years ago
yeah, one of my favorite bands had the same few issues. the to half of the guitar lost all its paint.
but the P90s sound so goooooooooooooood

Ooh. Thanks a lot, I'm on a school device so I can't check eBay.

ha the GC guy tried to sell me a 4k guitar when I tried a $100 one.

I don't have a dedicated pot to the PHAT boost. It was my volume pot.

i really do agree with that sentiment.... beer does negate spam.
i'm kidding, people piss me off so much every day. it's why i hate applying for jobs, even/especially short-term ones.
9yover 9 years ago
lol i would, but like... i loooooove it. and it used to be my uncle's before it was mine. i got it in my teenage emo-metal phase. also, the magnets are huge, exposed, and yeah cobalt is expensive. i know. i tired to buy some for an experiment.

What's your basic studio setup?
thanks. imma link you all to the soundcloud when it's finished.
9yover 9 years ago
yeah, no, the rest of them are unbent. this one was damaged somewhere.
9yover 9 years ago
SO i found the issue.
The fucking magnet on the fucking pickup under the E string is damaged. Bent to high heaven.
Should I replace the magnets or the pickup?
