My doomsday rig...

So when you play are you using an amp selector switch of some sort ( like amp a and amp b) or is the signal going to both amps at the same time? IF at the same time that would be an awesome way to "stack" delays! Never thought of it from that perspective. (whenever I've stacked delays its always been through one amp or channel.) I bet you get that nice stereo spread with your setup. I'd love to hear it if you ever get a chance to record it in action!

The guy I got it from believed it to be made by Stella. The label had practically deteriorated. He's been a local Luther here for about 36 years. Hes a cool guy hand makes guitars, harps, mandolins, violins , and freakin cellos! I use to visit to buy cello strings from him and he had the mandolin hanging in there for at least a year. It always caught my eye. SO when i asked him about it he said from the best he could tell it was probably made by Stella. I've never heard of them. Anyway, we'd become pretty good friends since i visited him so much and he GAVE it to me. This guy had so many projects he just couldn't get to them all.

So i guess that may be why I've hung on to it for so long. I'd love to have it repaired. Possibly do some of it myself. I just don't wont to have to cut the fret slots on the finger board. Makes me nervous! haha Oh yeah... and your suggestion about the nut on my Bixby guitar turned out to be 100% correct! thanks for the tip by the way!

Kazoos are great! I've actually heard some great recordings with them. They can sound like a muddied up harmonica or weird fuzz guitar. It's amazing what you can do with effects processors and a little time. I think the tin Kazoos sound better than the plastic of course. Have you ever tried the cellophane and comb kazoo? That"s fun!

Hey not a bad profit at all! I have a mandolin that's just over 100 years old and needs a new fret board and such. Iv'e almost put it up for sale a few times. I keep hanging onto it with the intention of repairing it one day. Hell, it looks really cool just hanging on my wall too!

Have you seen those new accordions by Roland? They look pretty snazzy. It would be fun to run it through some effects... maybe overdrive and delay or some flange. HAHA

I was wondering how many of us have really wierd instruments lying around that we love but hardly share with anyone. I have a Ukelin ( they say its a cross between a ukelele and violin but it looks more like a koto to me.) Its played with a bow. Its just damn wierd! But I really want a waterphone! Those are cool!

Dummy!

You said it! What is up with GearSlutz? I've been a member of that forum for quite some time but never posted anything. THEY ARE BRUTAL! OMG the egos! Those guys need to chill and remember to have fun. I've always felt like if someone were to ask an odd question or is just basically stupid then no one should comment. It seems like its all about who has the most expensive gear and how many decades you've been doing something.

Don't get me wrong, there are some really helpful and interesting posts. But its kind of like asking your parents for the car keys so you can take out the preachers daughter and have you're way with her. Be prepared to have your ass mowed from every direction! Ouch.

How do you kick out a band member?

Theres a couple of ways you could kick them out. Here's some of my favorites. 1: Tell them that everyone else in the band is quiting... then reform in secret as another band. 2: Tell the guy you want to kick out that he/she would be better as a solo artist! haha! 3: Do what Bowie did to the Spider from Mars... Wait until your last show and announce in front of the audience that this will be the last show you ever perform together. Or you could just like that guy that was in The Manic Street Preachers... Just turn up missing, contact no one (including family) and let the others go on. Did he actually snuff it? Hmmmm

2 Guitars in one amp?

Yeah.... 2 amps would be awesome! I have this sick dream of two AC30's and running my effects in stereo. I could peel paint with a setup like that!

My pedalboard looks empty

Man... my two year old is all about the patch bay! He loves to patch cables! He cracks me up! I do have to look at all my setting on my gear before i power up though. He loves to flick the switches on and off. Thankfully he has not made his way to the power strips. But the funniest thing ever is when i let him push all the faders on this old Behringer console that I dont use. He loved the volume going up and down. I've got video somewhere.. I might have to post that.

Ok this is hilarious

That's awesome! HAha! I once Had a friend that caught his wife and lover in the act. Her lover ran out the back door like a puss and she calmly got dressed and left. Then he got a huge fucking knife and stabbed the mattress about 1000 times. I thought I was going to piss on myself. I have seen so many women ruin guys lives. I'm sure it goes both ways but women can just be down right brutal and cold. OUCH

Any fans of the band Suede (or London Suede if you state side) willing to share some guitar tabs?

No I haven't! I will give it a go. Thanks!

Awesome. I really need to get my hands on an AC30 eventually. I've always loved the tone of those amps. I can play a few Suede songs. But it seems there are so many layers of guitars at times its get a bit difficult to determine which is playing what. I've always really liked Butlers style.

HAHA! Didn't he eat poo on stage? I know he likes to roll around in glass and cut himself. But to each his own I guess.

Never read it. I'm really surprised that Bowie associated with him. Didn't they co write China Girl together?

Hey all! I was wondering if any of you out there are fortunate enough to have any of the guitar tabs for Suede. Their books are extremely hard to come by. If you do would you be kind enough to share? Also what sort of rig do you use to get your/ bernard butlers guitar sound. A couple of VOX ac30's? A lespaul?

The biggest aresholes in rock

My band once played a venue where Iggy Pop was performing as the headliner that evening. I remember him bitching back stage about not having a limo drive him to the airport! He kept saying something like "im not going in a fucking shuttle bus" or some crap.He was just yelling at the poor guy! I remember thinking he was a whiny little bitch. I thought he was beyond such BS. I guess some people have to be seen! OH and his performance sucked (IMHO). Hate to say... but I was there.

Man. What is it with the "dumb smart girl" thing. I think I'm married to one. Not that I don't love her but holy hell. She's absolutely brilliant, speaks 2 languages, extremely creative. But GIRL can't boil hot water! And she takes freakin 30 minutes to load the kids in the car! And there's only one way to do anything and that's HER way. Otherwise you're a complete idiot? Right?

I've always thought Peter Murphy secretly wanted to be Bowie. But hey...who doesn't right? I will say that Bauhaus is a fantastic thing to witness live! Its like performance art with raw, experimental music. I love it! I always thought it was really cool that both were in The Hunger. I love the opening sequence to that movie. Bowie, Bauhaus, and BLOOD! AHhhhhhhhhh!

WOW! Sounds like quite a ride. It's really hard to find a good woman. I'm still married and I completely adore my boys. But If you marry the wrong person...life is hell. If you marry a mentally ill person..life will be hell. And if you marry a drug abuser/alcoholic....you guessed it! I'm truly sorry to hear about your experience. But you'll always have your music. No one can take that away from you.

I will say it is EXTREMEMLY difficult to write, record, or do anything music related when the kiddos are toddlers. But they wont always be so little. I've introduced mine to instruments and music and we have loads of fun! I love it when my eldest ( 2 years old) beats the hell out of his drum set! The best part is that when I croak I'll have to little boys that will be rockin Dad's old gear! Good luck to ya!
