Great Pedal paired with the right amp!
Just got this pedal delivered today and the very first amp I wanted to try it out with was my Peavey Classic 30 which is similar in my opinion to a JCM-800. Almost the same preamp and power amp tubes (Peavey C30 has EL34 instead of EL84). Running straight through the main input…this pedal is INDISTINGUISHABLE from an Marshal JCM-800!!! I’m very impressed Marshall was able to pull this off! The only thing, all the video reviews thus far on YouTube has this pedal being played through a Marshall….I haven’t seen many that plays through different brand amps. As long as you have a tube amp, it will be faithful to duplicate the sound of a Marshall JCM-800. I’ve tried it through the effects return of my Peavey Classic 30 and it’s not the same as running it straight through! Tried with my Peavey Bandit 112 Transtube being that it’s on the “opposite side of the fence” from a tube amp perspective. The pedal sounds okay through a solid state amp, but definitely not at the level it sounds through a tube amp. Marshall did a great job with this pedal, sounds great, we’ll pronounced and defined sound. Clarity is as good as you can expect from Marshall! Harmonics ring through like a choir in heaven! It’s an amazing pedal paired with the right amp! I haven’t tried any of my other tube amps yet, I’m really curious to see what it does through a Marshall Valvestate hybrid bi chorus 8200! The only downside to this pedal, I wish it had individual tone controls for bass treble and mids. The tone shaping control does a nice job, but not like a three band EQ. Great pedal highly recommended! Try it before you buy it to make sure it’ll work well with your setup!
Absolute must have pedal
This is a must have pedal if you're looking for that classic rock sound from the 80s onwards. Sounding like Slash from Guns N Rose playing Appetite for Destruction classics is a dream, along with AC DC... Play mine through a VOX VT100X 100W Valvetronix on a clean amp setting, and saved me thousands!

Don't believe the demos, try one and believe your ears
Years before this pedal, Marshall made The Guv'nor, arguably the first 'Marshall in a box' style distortion pedal, styled after the JCM800 amplifier of the time and its legendary crunch tones. The new JCM800 pedal is essentially their second go around at the same concept, using newer design philosophy and sharing very little with their vintage pedals. The misnomer that I've seen in multiple major reviews has been using this pedal as a standalone amp sim, when it's really optimized to run into the clean channel of a good tube amp and give it that JCM800 flavor, which I'd argue it does beautifully. The construction seems solid, the current $150 price is fair, and the sound they have into a Fender style amp makes it stand with any 'Marshall in a box' by a different name.
