In this video, Gordie Johnson of Wide Mouth Mason, Grady, and Big Sugar discusses his Gibson Gordie Johnson Signature SG in this Rig of the Week episode, stating, "This was just like a plain-jane SG that we pulled off a shelf...somewhere in Toronto, pawn shop, ... it was cheap, in the low hundreds of dollars... man, I just loved the sound of it... I put these Gibson custom pickups in it, P-94 pickups... If you wanted to put a P-90 in a guitar that had humbuckers you had to chop it up, that was there solution to that. But they sound different than a P-90, a little beefier sounding, and so I put these in it".

At 3:00 Gordie Johnson of Wide Mouth Mason, Grady, and Big Sugar discusses his Garnet Herzog in this documentary, stating, "My love of Garnet, It's the simplicity of the circuit, there is nothing that gets in the way of what you're trying to do... This is my effects rack right here, I have no effects pedals... My amplifier repair guys down there in Texas... and they look at the schematic, and they're like, It's beautiful! It's like art that only an electrician can truly appreciate. The guy looked at it and almost wept...how simple it was...How does it sound so good? Well, that could be the reason why."
