There is so much ingenuity in this plugin, its no wonder this thing cost an arm and a leg (and your liver, kidney, and spleen). And i would pay all that minus the arm, because then i can't make anymore more music.
All joking aside, Ill focus more on the plugins that are meant to replicate real world instruments. Pianos, strings, orchesteas, violins, cellos, etc. They all sound dynamic, vivid, and just realistic.
Lets take the string sounds for example. Kontact has many libabries to replicate different ways you can make the same note on a violin (like playing p, mp, mf, f, fff, different bowing techniques, bouncing bow, pizzicato, i can go on). Not all from one library of course. But if you ever get to play around with action strings, you will know what i mean. I felt like i had a symphony orchestra ready at my fingertips, and i was their conductor.
Piano sounds sound amazing. most piano synths would have this sort of twangy sound, which i dislike and it feels fake. Their piano libraries have such clarity, you can easily capture the elegance and grace of the piano.
Brass are ok.
I got these as gifts. If you want bass, and all you care about is bass, then fuck yeah, good on you! That's all you're getting though. Mediocre, average, ok bass. Everything else sounds pretty muffled and not as sharp. Since i got them as gifts, I am not aware of their price range, but I can almost 100% guarantee there are better options. I am almost 100% sure these must be fake beats, because i can't believe anyone would pay anything more than $30 for this quality of sound.
Great mic. Definately an upgrade from my Samson C01U. Reasonable price without having to shell out an arm and leg.
If you're really tight on money, want to get your sound digital without getting an DAC, and just want something with better clarity than your laptop mic, these are a good start. But don't get too comfy with them for long.
If you're just starting into the whole sound engineering thing, you'd want a good set of monitors without having to blow off a bunch of cash. These babies will do just the trick.
These headphones have crystal clear sound. The open back design make acoustic sound so much more fuller and real.
These headphones are probably my favorite. I love the design; the ergonomics fit so well. The large cups make it impossible to feel uncomfortable with. The open back makes the mids and high sound much more fuller and dynamic. These compared to the K701 has a bit more bass, so they feel more up to date to popular styles of music (Im talking about EDM and hip-hop stuff.) Great cans!
I use them as my daily drivers. Pretty comfy, sounds pretty decent. I got 2 of them.
Edit for more detail:
I never really hear about these headphones from anyone or any countdown list, but i saw the design and thought they looked pretty sleek and attractive. They aren't too pricey, so lets test them out. I was taken by surprise the dynamic of the sound. All your ranges were there. I didnt need to carry an amp everywhere with me for these (most of my headphones are high impedance), so i use these with my phone and at work (they let me listen to music there).
I dont DJ, so i don't know how they work in that environment. I would assume you want something lightweight, versitile, durable, and somewhat compact and portable. I would say they pass on all those aspects.
Comfortablility: I can wear them all day at my 9-5 job. I only pull them off just to hear what my boss has to say. The pads are like soft little pillows. I dare say they have the softness of large ample breast with the precision and finesse of smaller perkier ones. The band doesn't clamp on your head like vicegrips or the jaw of an alligator, so even as on-ear cups, they dont hurt after a while. But Ill be honest with one thing though. I have 2 pairs of these, one white and one black. The white ones i had felt much more softer around my ears. The black ones i had were much harder. But after about 2 week break in period they were better. I can say from first hand experience that the quality control on the cushion of these headphones are noticeable.
Overall I enjoy these underrated headphones. They look really sleek and offer a dynamic sound. Fair warning though: If you get them in white, things will start to turn yellow.
Its ok. I prefer other headphones though.
EDIT: Adding more stuff. Gonna be more detailed for the community.
Sound quality: These are the only Beats I will say the sound is ADEQUATE AT BEST. Not the best, but I will give it a passing score. My experience with beats is they pump up the bass all the way, but the high and mids usually suffer. If you are to buy beats, these are the ONLY ones i can recommend. And of course, its one of their higher models so mo' money. However for the price you can get something with MUCH better sound quality.
Comfortability: The ear cups just catch the top of my ears. The headband is pretty tight, so the ears push into your head quite hard. You can't have these on for a while. You'll find yourself pulling the ears open from time to time giving your ears some air to breath in.
Design: I am pretty impressed by the design. All that metal makes it look pretty durable and slick. If something is going to be expensive, it should AT LEAST LOOK IT right? So does it look pretty? Check. All the clueless chicks will drop their panties when they see these beats, and that's what they are for.
Giving it a 3, just because they are average at best.
Cheap, affordable, and its got full 88-keys. Semi-weighted so i can semi-feel like I'm playing a piano.
And there really isn't anything more to it than that. Its simple and i like it.
Its a controller. Its a keyboard. Its got keys! 49-of them! Its a drum pad. It senses velocities! Its got sliders and knobs. Its cool. sadly, i haven't gotten around to fully utilizing it.
A/I are really useful, and this little red box does it all. I use this for a lot more than just for music production. Its an integral part of my life. I would be lost without this.
A useful controller for Ableton. It makes adjusting up to 8 tracks a breeze. Also consider it having a mini launchpad on it. Double Boom!
Nice simple controller that works well with Ableton. I mostly use it to trigger samples or as a drumpad.
