Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about K&M 18820 Omega Pro Keyboard Stand.

Features and functionality

  • The second tier's supports protrude 7cm out if using a shallow keyboard like the Arturia KeyLab 88 Mk ii on the lowest tier.

    Source
  • The Omega stand's height is easily adjustable, but it's noted that adjustments are smoothest when all synths are removed.

    Source
  • Purchasing the Omega stand only includes one tier; additional tiers must be bought separately for expanded setups.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Owners can use longer brackets (K&M PN 18823) for the second tier to accommodate deeper gear and enable the use of the third tier.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • The stand can be used as a tabletop stand by removing the holders and moving the lowest tier device forward.

    Source

Build quality

  • The stand is rock solid, but spring-loaded knobs can be hard to replace; no US retailers stock part 6-18810-2-55.

    Source
  • Some users report considerable wobble, attributed to the thin legs of the stand, which may flex, particularly under heavier setups.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The stand is adaptable for studio setups, allowing the second tier extension to serve as a standalone tabletop stand.

    Source
  • When set high, the stand may shake with heavier setups, posing an issue for tall users.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners find the stand extremely stable, likening its quality to the "Rolls-Royce" of stands.

    Source
  • Owners find the distance between the second and third tiers not optimal for deep synths like DSI models, affecting visibility of controls on the second tier.

    Source
  • Users note that while the spacing between the bottom and second tiers is effective, the lack of adjustability is a common complaint.

Solid, professional and quick to assemble.

I use this for my Montage M8x. I already own 2 K&M spiders, but the M8x is probably too big and heavy to put on the. I really like K&M though, so I bought a K&M that can hold more weight, specifically for the M8x. It didn't look too great on the pictures, but in practice once the synth is put on, it looks as good as is possible. It was quite easy to assemble at first and is even easier once you're used to it and need to take it to gigs (just like with the spiders).

Gear IQ 176

1 alternative for K&M 18820 Omega Pro Keyboard Stand, curated by the Equipboard community.

K&M Spider Pro

$17.99 - $819.99

high-end alternative

The Spider Pro (18860) takes up less space than the Omega Pro (18820), you can stack multiple instruments, is easier to expand, quicker to set up and easier to transport. It's a little less reliable for larger heavier instruments. I use them for everything except my M8x (which is on the Omega Pro).
