Someone replaced the Darkglass B3k with his Pedalboard and I don't know how to get the original back
Something similar happened to the Korg DTR-1 https://equipboard.com/items/korg-dtr-1-digital-tuner It's the same picture. At this point this must be intentional.
Edit: This user seems to do either not understand euqipboard or is trolling https://equipboard.com/jmvaughan He "privateered" a lot of listings:

I added a wrong submission and i wanna delete it
I added this pickup to Jeff Hanneman https://equipboard.com/pros/jeff-hanneman/jbe-pickups-joe-barden-two-tone recently released photos show it is actually not a Joe Barden, but a Bill Lawrence. Since I contributed it, I can't mark it as incorrect.

Someone replaced the Darkglass B3k with his Pedalboard and I don't know how to get the original back
Hi, It seems like someone took the listing for the Darkglass Microtubes B3k and edited the title and photos so it was his pedalboard? Kinda weird I don't know. See it here https://equipboard.com/items/darkglass-electronics-microtubes-b3k-cmos-bass-overdrive
Is there a way to just revert it to it's old state? Also is tehre a way to prevent something like this in the future?

Reverb link points to wrong product.
Hi, the Reverb link for the Korg DTR-2000 points to the DTR-1000. Th correct link should be https://reverb.com/p/korg-dtr-2000

Why Can't I add items without a link?
OK that's great, thank you :)
one more thing: Since I've been specifically asked in this thread not to add the Ken Multi MOD-SS, I won't. However will the contributing guidleines be updated so they tell people not to add niche products like this?

Why Can't I add items without a link?
So how about this - we'll just pick a reasonable GearIQ threshold that shows you are a good citizen of Equipboard, and allow access to the "legacy" add item process. That way, we keep the new way as the preferable method since adding an item via the big music stores gives us a unique identifier (like a UPC or SKU) which helps us internally with data accuracy .... but if you needed to add something more niche/custom, you'll be able to do so the old way.
Sounds good. Although you can still get a lot of unwanted entries from those users (as discussed above).
And consider grouping variants... I can't imagine the Behringer TD-3 and RD-6 being popular in colors other than the original silver or acid yellow...
This is already forbidden.Quote from theContributing Guidelines and FAQ!:
the color of equipment and instruments does not affect sound, so if all that differs is color, please do not submit a new item, but you are welcome to specify the color of a specific item in the submission notes or your review

Why Can't I add items without a link?
So after thinking about all the posts above I thought of something that might be a solution for both sides. (Just an idea. I fully understand the arguments against adding super niche products just so I can ad them to my online gear collection that nobody except me is ever gonna look at anyways. Also: I know I often come across very angry/annoyed in online posts. I'm not angry, just passionate ;-) )
So. Idea. How about if gear I want in my collection isn't relevant enough for it's own entry, I can make a small note in my gear page noting that I also own this item. Just a line of text with the item name and an image that is all only visible in my gear page. It isn't clickable, it doesn't have it's own item page, it doesn't show up in search results, it can't be added to other peoples gear pages or to artist profiles.
It reduces unnecessary clutter that nobody is interested in, which hopefully appeases the search algorithms, but everyone can still track their WHOLE gear collection.

Why Can't I add items without a link?
I think so, yes.
But is this honestly a reason not to add it? You'd have to remove a lot of gear then. Classic Ibanez Tube Screamer? Just a rebranded Maxon. Most early Fuzzes? Just clones of other early fuzz circuits. Park amps? Just rebranded Marshalls. Silvertone guitars? Rebranded Danelectros. The MXR Black Label chorus? Exactly the same as the MXR M234 Analog Chorus apart from the print on the case. Heck, what about 60s Epiphone guitars? They were made in the Gibson factory along side the Gibsons to the exact same specs, they only put a neck with a different headstock on there.
In my opinion, if it is sold under a different brand and/or has a different model name it should have it's own entry.

Why Can't I add items without a link?
Maybe something like this thread is the solution? I get the problem and I do think most of the DIY stuff shouldn't be on here. Maybe if the DIY thing is made from a kit we can put the kit in as a product? This already happens. I 've put this set https://equipboard.com/items/harley-benton-electric-guitar-kit-st-style into my collection. Not because I own the set, but a guitar made from it. I guess most gear we might want to add is either available new at one of the big retailers or on reverb, since most of the smaller boutique builders also sell through reverb. The rest can be added by the mods manually. I get this is additional work for the mods, but far less than having to deal with the hundreds of reports for low quality items. Maybe add a link to the "Add new item" page?

Why Can't I add items without a link?
I get that, and I agree that there are too much duplicates and unnecessary entries in the database. It's just a pedal I bought recently and wanted to add to my personal gear list.

Why Can't I add items without a link?
Hi, I just realized it is impossible to add atimes that are on sale at any of the supported shops now. I want to add this https://www.carousell.com.my/p/mod-ss-overdrive-rare-ken-multi-269698614/ pedal, but I can't since it isn't produced anymore and it isn't listed on Reverb. What to do?

Should I add this prototype as a new item?
Hi, so I found this picture of Kerry King with the prototype of hhis signature amp . I know it's the prototype because that's what his signature Softube plugin is modeled after. I don't know if the circuit inside is any different from the final product, but it has a different graphic on the front and the switch for the beast mode seems to be missing even tho the controls for the beast mode are present. Should I add this prototype as a seperate item and add it to Kerry or is the difference so small that the final product is enough?

- The page currently titled Contributing should probably be renamed to How to Contribute, or better yet How to Submit Gear to Artists since "contribute" is rather broad. And it should have up-to-date screenshots.
I don't think there is anything wrong with "Contribute", but "How to Submit Gear to Artists" would probably be clearer.
- We should add a new page alongside it called Contributor Guidelines - do you all think this should be FAQ/Q&A style?
I think an FAQ style thing would work great here. Maybe with links to good examples of edge cases.
I think this submission is solid and valid, and that is exactly why we made the demo/promo usage tag. I think what will be useful is to be able to filter items on an artist page by these tags. So if someone (like addman34555 in that example who is arguing against it) wants to filter out gear considered promotional or for demos, they can do so.
good idea. But then there must be guidlines to what is considered demo/promo adn what is considered live. For example in a clinic held hat a guitar store. Is that considered live or promo?
What about sets that contain a specific item. Like this. It contains this, this and this item. So do we add the set to an artist, the individual items, or both?
Hmmmm this is very tricky. I don't know I would defer to you all and go with majority opinion.
In my opinion it's ok to do both in most cases, if the individual components are also sold seperately. The artist might sometimes just use parts of a set. In the example I gave above Kerry King actually sometimes uses just the bridge pickup from his signature set and replaces the neck pickup with a Fernandes sustainer. so I think it's ok to add the set aswell as the individual components and I've done so in a few cases. In an ideal world the Item page of the set would list the individual components that are sold seperately and automatically add them to all the artists, but I'd imagine that's a lot of work and imho shouldn't be a priority right now.
What about a guitar that comes stock with a specific pickup. If the artist uses the guitar stock, should we also add the pickup as a separate item?
Kind of a case-by-case basis. I don't see this as incorrect, it comes down to the submission notes being very good and specific. And it helps if it's a pickup in an iconic guitar. Not everyone with a Strat or Tele should have whatever standard pickups are in those as separate items.
I agree.
These are just my opinions. I haven't even been here for half a year so maybe some of the more senior members should say what they think.

The contributer guidlines should be expanded. We need a few clearer rules as to what gear is allowed to be added to an artist or not. Right now I'm in a discussion over this contribution. This is kind of an edge case. In my opinion it should be added to the artist, because the item was clearly used by him, even tho just for promo purposes. There are other edge cases like this. For example, what if an artist uses a small practice amp for backstage warmup on tour, should it be added? What if he just takes a few photos for ads by a brand, but there is no evidence he ever played it. Should it be added? What about sets that contain a specific item. Like this. It contains this, this and this item. So do we add the set to an artist, the individual items, or both?. What about a guitar that comes stock with a specific pickup. If the artist uses the guitar stock, should we also add the pickup as a separate item? All this should be clearly explained in the guidleines, so in case of discussion we can point to something to defend our point. I get there will always be edge cases, but right now the rules are just far too vague on stuff like this.

There needs to be a way to report a duplicate Artist, not only duplicate gear.
