Bill Stevenson's Gear
Bill actually uses several different kits, as he has many different ones to choose from at his studio, The Blasting Room, in Fort Collins, CO. Stevenson says he has Tamas, DWs, Slingerlands, Nobel & Cooleys, and different sets of SJCs, as he is officially endorsed by them. But his basic setup is usually always the same: 24″ bass, 14″ mounted tom, and 18″ floor tom. As for cymbals - "I use all Zildjans. 15” Quick Beat Hi-Hats, 22” Ping Ride, 19” Medium Crashes, 20” Medium Thin crashes. Sometimes I’ll use an 18” Thin or an 18” Medium Thin over on my right side to do the Crash-riding on. I like the “A Custom Projection”, the “A Customs”, and the “A’s.” They all have their good points," says Stevenson (source: https://maubrecht.wordpress.com/2019/03/13/next-up/) Stevenson goes on to say that nowadays he mostly flies in to shows, as many of them are one-off festival slots, so he often uses a rented kit from whatever city they're playing in. He only carries in his own snare, bass pedal and sticks, so he's not as particular as to what brand he's pounding at any given date, as long as they get the job done.
