According to this article, Brad Buxer had started out working with Michael Jackson as a drum machine programmer on Dangerous and in the studio was using a (repainted) bright red Linn 9000.

In a masterclass at Abbey Road Institute Paris, Brad Buxer mentioned using the Roland TR-909 Rhythm Composer for the kick drum in "Stranger in Moscow," a highlight of which was shared by Abbey Road Institute Sydney on Instagram.

...for "Stranger in Moscow-" for the kick I used a 909 drum with an 8th note delay but everything else is synthetic- made from his beatbox.
