"Saturday Night Special was recorded at least 6 months before the album NUTHIN FANCY was done.

Artimus wasn't even in the band yet - Leon & I auditioned Artimus one Summer day in '74 in Atlanta and were working up a three-piece version of SNS. (We were thinking about a change of drummers, though we hadn't done it yet.) Kooper stopped by and told us about the movie - we packed everything up, moved over to the studio and cut it...no vocals or other guitars. I used an echoplex (effect) that I'd just purchased....but never used it live."

A 1958 6120 is featured in this November 21, 2019 video by Carter Vintage Guitars.

J Mascis plays a '58 Gretsch 6120 through a cranked '57 Super with the help of a Xotic SL Drive. This single-cut Grestch is loaded with its original filtertrons pickups which tonally sit perfectly between a humbucker and a tele. The finish is in beautiful condition with a faded orange color. Few guitars sound like a Gretsch and this is a prime example of their most popular model. This guitar was previously owned by Ed King.

If you scroll down, you can see he said I don't own a Dobro. I have a 1927 Martin 00-18 that is the best sounding guitar for slide I've ever heard. SOUNDS LIKE WARM CHOCOLATE-COVERED SILK.

It won't let me post the link to his forum, so I took a screen shot of it.

I have 3 Martin 00-18's and one Gibson J-200 (for strumming). I'm not a true connoisseur of acoustic guitars but I can tell when I'm playing a great one.

Gibson PAF pickups and wiring with Bumblebee capacitors. The pots date to 1959. The previous owner, Ed King, preferred wiring harnesses from 1959, so he had this 59 harness installed in the guitar. Included in the case is another Les Paul wiring harness with Bumblebees also dating to 1959.
