Hebden's approach to working with computers is very much based on destructive processing and manual editing, and he tends not to use plug-in effects: "I only use about two plug-ins. I use the TC Native EQ and the Waves C1 compressor quite a lot, and some reverbs, but not much. Everyone's records end up sounding the same, so I really haven't explored plug-ins at all."

In this post, you can see a TC Electronic Flashback 2 Delay on his desk. Considering the characteristics such as the pattern near the switch (it says "Mash"), we can conclude that it is Flashback 2, not Flashback 1.
In the Tape Notes Podcast video titled "How Four Tet Created 'Looking At Your Pager' in 15 Minutes: Ableton Session Breakdown," Four Tet is shown using the FabFilter Pro-Q 3 plugin on one of the stems.
Four Tet confirmed using the Soma Laboratory Terra synthesizer in the creation of his album "Loved," as he mentioned in an Instagram post. He stated, "I was given this synth as a gift last year from @floatingpoints and @cariboumusic. They told me they thought it was perfect for me and I’d finish making my album with it. They were right and I made Loved using it a few weeks later. Thank you Sam and Dan. You are loved."
Four Tet uses the Soma Laboratory PULSAR-23, a four-voice, semi-modular analogue percussion synthesizer. This is supported by an article on MusicRadar by Matt Mullen, where Four Tet is seen jamming on this drum machine, which was given to him by Floating Points and Caribou.
