Fred Falke's Keyboards and Synthesizers
In his "In The Studio" video with Future Music Magazine, Fred Falke plays with and records a CS-80. At 19:40 specifically, he begins playing the synthesizer's keys.
This vintage string machine (top) harks back to the disco era of the late ‘70s. “The Solina is a classic; as far as I remember I fell in love with the sound of it from Herbie Hancock records initially,” explains Fred.
“I bought it initially because it was a cheap but really good synth,” Fred tells us. “It always reminds me of the Scott Grooves Mothership Reconnection Daft Punk mix with the flanged, synth-string sound.”
“I bought this one because I saw it on the cover of this Japanese record I own, but I really fell in love with it,” Fred enthuses. “I even bought another because I use it all the time for everything from effects and sweeps to bass and leads.”
Fred is walking Future music Magazine on the gear in his studio
In a video interview with Future Music, Fred Falke discusses his track-building process and points out the Studio Electronics Omega 8 synthesizer, visible to the left of his computer screen. While he doesn't use it in the featured track, he highlights it with a distinctive 'Death Records' plaque from the 1974 movie 'Phantom of the Paradise.' Falke has also shared photos of this synth on his Instagram, showcasing it in his impressive modular synth room.
