John Mayer's Drum Sets

Hide incorrect submissions

In this YouTube video uploaded by craigmewsmusic, John Mayer can be seen playing a vibraslap starting at 1:40. Mayer said in reference to a song on his album Room for Squares, "83 was the vibraslap." Based on this video and the sounds heard on Mayer's said song, it can be concluded that the vibraslap was used during recording. It is unclear which brand produced this particular vibraslap, but judging from the idea that Mayer said in the video, "We drove out to a Guitar Center just to get a vibraslap," it is likely that this is a Latin Percussion brand vibraslap, considering this brand has not only dealt their vibraslap to Guitar Center in the past, but also credits the invention of the vibraslap in 1967 to Latin Percussion's founder, Martin Cohen, upon which the company was granted a patent for the instrument.
