Kevin Parker's Guitars
Kevin used a 1967 Rickenbacker 335 Jetglo as his main guitar after recording Innerspeaker. Originally purchased around 2009/2010 in Japan. He then after applied white graffer tape with the sea foam blue paint we see today. Link for full context: https://www.premierguitar.com/artists/guitarists/tame-impala-psych-wunderkind-kevin-parker
At 22:29, Kevin can be seen using a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster.
In this picture, Kevin Parker is playing a Hagstrom Impala at the 2011 Glastonbury festival.
Kevin can be seen in this image playing his Roadhouse Strat onstage in Lorne, Australia, 2010. The neck on this guitar from an American Stratocaster as stated in this interview: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/23033-tame-impala-psych-wunderkind-kevin-parker
Kevin Parker uses a versatile, yet vintage guitar. According to Parker, this is a 330 issued in 1967. The "Tame Impala" frontman mentions that "...old Rickenbackers have something the new ones don´t.." His guitar, specifically, is JetGlo black and has a pickguard painted in a mint blue shade.
During the 2021 Tame Impala Wave House Innerspeaker Concert we see Kevin using a 2020 Fender American Professional ll in a 3-Tone Sunburst with a Rosewood fretboard (2021 models include a 75 Anniversary decal). You can tell becuase it features the neck heel carve, non-locking staggered tuners, 2-point bridge, and the new string tree which is also featured on the Ultra models. You can see these features throughout the concert which can't be captured in one whole frame.
Here's Kevon using a beautiful Blue ES-335 in a live performance on Triple J, and at Splendor in the Grass.
In this video from a recent 2018 show, Kevin can be seen playing a Fender Stratocaster. This is a newer model with a sunburst finish, which means it is no way related to his previous roadhouse strat. You can see the strat from approx. 1:30 onwards.
Kevin used this guitar when he was in a band called The Dee Dee Dums (which featured later Tame Impala guitarist, Dom Simper). This footage is from late 2005 or early 2006 at the Swan Basement. Kevin is seen playing it throughout the whole video. The guitar has not been seen since this footage was taken.
Here at :42s you can see Kevin playing the Little Martin in a live version of "Alter Ego."
In this video, at 1:08, Kevin Parker can be seen using a Casio DG-20.
In this teaser video for Tame Impala's new album 'The Slow Rush', Kevin is seen playing a blue Teisco ET-460 K4L at 0:55.
As seen in this FIFA 21 premiere video, Kevin now has a black Retroscape Impala. It's definitely the Retroscape model because the switches are black, while the original had colored switches. While he used to use an original 60s tobacco burst Impala, it's possible that it was lost in the wild fire that destroyed most of his old gear a few years ago and he replaced it with the Retroscape.
At 1:27 he is playing "Mind Mischief" with Epiphone DR
At the very begining (between 0:00 and 0:01) you can see that he holds Les Paul with "Greco" on headstock. They seem to like those japanese LP as in one of the videos they use also black Burny.
In this video Kevin is playing an old Eko 12 strings acoustic Italian guitar.
In the YouTube video "Tame Impala - On Track (ARIA Awards 2020)" by tameimpalaVEVO, Kevin Parker can be seen playing an Anson Les Paul guitar. The guitar's distinctive logo and finish match those of a 60's vintage Japanese model, aligning with Parker's known preference for similar instruments, as evidenced by his use of Teisco guitars in recent tours.
at 5.06 in this video Kev uses the Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster Acoustic-electric Guitar in Ocean Turquoise.
In this video of the the 'Dee Dee Dums' (early Tame Impala), Keving is seen using a 'Epiphone Les Paul 100 Vintage' guitar. It is quite obvious that it is this guitar for three main reasons the Sunburst detail on the body, the circle fret detailing, and the double black single coil humbuckers.
In this youtube video. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGoNLMJTa5M) Kevin is playing an acoustic verson of his song "On Track." He is seen using a Valencia CG160 classical guitar. This is the only seen footage of him using this instrument.
In this photo from the live at greek theatre in 2023 (Source : https://youtu.be/l8yUFFwfZnM?si=aacGQzH0D6H7U_6i) , Kevin Parker can be seen playing Epiphone 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Aged Classic White. Considering the distinctive shape of its neck and body, the logo on the neck, and the text on the truss rod cover, you can say that it is this guitar. In another photo posted on Instagram, Dua Lipa posted a photo of her recording with Kevin Parker. (Details are listed on the Reddit page : https://www.reddit.com/r/TameImpala/comments/z5whpv/kevin_parker_x_dua_lipa_incoming/) Considering the characteristics of the neck and fingerboard of the guitar in the photo, it seems to be the same as this guitar. With all that said, he uses this guitar live and in recordings.
Tokai Les Paul Standard is in this photo. (2023)
