Les Claypool's Other Gear
In the EMGtv video titled "Les Claypool & EMG Present: Precious Metals," Les Claypool is seen using the EMG Les Claypool Signature P-Bass Pickups at the 4:12 mark in his performance.
The first is a 4 string fretted 32″ scale piccolo bass made of walnut and mahogany, and fitted with a single EMG-35DC pickup and BTS Control preamp. Les replaced the original Schaller 10/404 with an EMG-HB and then later moved to the DC. It also has a Kahler tremelo that was added by Claypool in the 1980s. in 1993 or so Les added a small piece of flamed maple on the headstock that is signed by Geddy Lee.
On Carl Thompsons website it is stated that the replica of his walnut piccolo bass is equipped with an EMG35P4 instead of the EMG35DC used in the original.
This page from Carl Thompson’s official website showcases a number of Les’ basses made by Carl, a number of them having a kahler trem, most notable his original walnut piccolo bass, the antimatter bass, and his replica of his original piccolo
In this instagram post you can clearly see a set of EMG PJ pickups in his six string Pachyderm Bass on slide 8
