Dear diary, it is day 248. My quest for the perfect bass tone has now come to an end. Today I plugged an American P Bass with split-coil vintage '62 pickups directly into a hand wired AC30, captured with a ribbon mic through an SSL preamp, and it was pure magic. The perfect tone I've been searching for, proving yet again there are no rules in the studio. If it sounds good, do it. My tribulation has ended. It has been a long, difficult journey but I have triumphed. My mind is now released from this torment. This may be my last entry.
