According to NamuWiki, this Rickenbacker 4001 is considered to be John's all-time favorite bass in his collection alongside his Olinto bass, and that from 2024 onwards, John would only play this Rickenbacker on 2 songs, slow dive and holyland, due to the bass's unusual tuning of C# F# B E, utilizing the top 4 string gauges of a 5-string set.

Electric BassesThis picture shows Potatoi playing a Hoffner Violin Bass. John Cha's specific model of the Hofner is a CT HCT-500/1 Contemporary series, a much cheaper but still loyal to the original Hofner 500/1. It is still unknown when John acquired this bass, but in his Potatoi YouTube channel, his vlogs shows the Hofner as still being part of his bass collection.
In the photo linked above, Potatoi, also known as John Cha, can be seen playing a Music Man Stingray bass, which he used on rare occasions. According to NamuWiki, John Cha has mentioned that although the Stingray is a good bass, he experiences dissatisfaction with its sound quality during live performances.
According to NamuWiki, John Cha started writing and becoming a brand ambassador for the Tatchi company, a high-end Japanese custom guitar/bass shop, where they helped made Potatoi's custom-made Tatchi 5-string Jazz bass.
