Rick Westwood
Rick Westwood's Gear
In 1968, Rick Westwood acquires a Fender Electric XII to be used in performances and some recordings. In a promotional shoot of the song Running Out, Rick can be seen playing a Fender Electric XII, its finish is unknown due to the black and white footage. This guitar may only be a short-lived guitar as it did not make an appearance after the 60s. Along with that, not much information is provided with the conditions and whereabouts of this guitar.
In this rare early picture of Rick Westwood, he is seen testing out a 50s Hofner Senator. The suggestion that it is a 50s Senator is with its control panel, which is designed in a circular plate, as opposed to the 60s, in-line control panel plate. This Hofner Senator may just be one of Rick's early guitars, which he would then either sell or trade for better instruments, such as the Hofner Club 40, and the Fender Stratocaster.
In this mimed performance of Call Me Number One, Rick Westwood can be seen on the left-hand side playing, what seems to be, a Fender Jaguar finished in Jet Black. Rick would purchase this short-lived instrument, and would use this Jet Black model in this mimed performance. In later performances, somewhere around 1969 or 1970, Rick either repainted the Jet Black Jaguar or bought another Jaguar but in either a cream or a light blue finish. The whereabouts of this guitar are still unknown.
In the late 60s, around 1968, Rick would acquire a Mosrite Double Neck guitar and would use it extensively in both recording and TV performances. He used the guitar in songs such as Yellow River to recreate that 12 string sound. The specifications of the Mosrite Double Neck are its white finish, 12 string on top, 6 string on the bottom, and it has the Ventures style design. The whereabouts of this guitar is also unknown, during the 70s.
