Question (Johnny): How might one achieve a sound such as the synth bass on "Ready To Blow"? I'm assuming you are just using one oscillator with some portamento and no resonance.

Answer (Sascha): That is correct, I used my Sequential Pro-1 for it, the internal sequencer is sweeeet!

Question (Astrix): I see from the lists in the Gear Section of the site that you still have the Sidstation (Elektron Sidstation "Ninja"). How do you like it? Do you use it and has it shown up on any tracks yet?

Answer (Sascha Konietzko): Yes I still have it. I love it and use it quite frequently. You can hear it all over the MDFMK album as well as ATTAK and WWIII.

In an interview with Keyboard Magazine, Sascha Konietzko mentioned, "The difference was the approach. I started Xtort after coming off two pretty extensive tours in '95. What I did was, sat down and totally re-did my studio. I switched all my sampling stuff from [E-mu] Emax II to Akai [samplers]." This statement confirms that Sascha Konietzko previously used the E-Mu Emax II 16-bit Digital Sound System Sampler Keyboard Workstation in his music production before switching to Akai samplers.

In an interview on the YouTube channel Yes Quit Your Day Job, at 4:42 in the video, Sascha Konietzko mentions that he used a Roland SH-101 when he was first starting out.

Konietzko gets the process rolling in a “little room full of stuff,” relying on drum machines like the Roland TR 909 and 707, samplers such as the Kurzweil 2000, E-mu Emix 20 and Prophet 202, a StudioVision Pro MIDI sequencer and Pro Tools running on a Mac 9600.

Sascha Konietzko employs the Sequential Circuits Prophet 2002 in his production setup, as confirmed by a DRUM! Magazine article, which describes his workspace as a "little room full of stuff" that includes various drum machines and samplers. The article mistakenly refers to the Prophet 2002 as a Prophet 202.
