At 5:20 In this video interview from Premier Guitar, Robert Randolph talks about his ToneBone JX-2. “The ToneBone kinda helps you get the whole polarity thing going, then allows you to be able to create this midrange over here. You see you can get into that and then you can get gain on the midranges, which for pedal steels, it’s important to have the high mids and the mids-mids. It’s really what it’s all about. Derek Trucks figured it out so that’s why he’s sly, he gets the creamy sound when he’s got his amps tweaked out too.”
