Love this sampler, some limitations (sub-par time stretching, limited chopping capabilities), but overall packs in a lot of features other SP's lack. simple sequencer, only 4-tracks but I've always made it work. resampling is super easy. chain 2 effects together. This was one of the first (if not the first) true hybrid standalone. It could also be used as a controller with USB cable. The 404 series gets all the shine but the 606 is a very capable machine.
Does everything I need and more. It's my main gear for live sets, now days I use it more in the studio to sample into my MPC. I have my record player connected it as well. I've made beats on this years ago just for fun, It's intuitive and fun to play with.
Moving from the Roland SP-606, the MPC One has become the brain in my studio. I prefer having all the dedicated buttons as opposed to the Live II but I do wish I had at least another stereo I/O, but I can make it work. I think I'll eventually move up to the X for more control (16 Q links) and more I/O's. Love the MPC workflow. Don't need battery as this unit would only leave my studio for a live setup (which I would want to plug in anyway). Time stretching could be improved on, I can work around that by doing that in my mixer before sampling into it but it would be nice to have a proper time stretcher without getting digital artifacts when stretching more than 10-20 bpm's. That said, I don't really have gripes, this is a definite upgrade from my previous stand alone sampler.
UPDATE: Time stretching has vastly improved with their new update.
Works well with just about anything really. Plug&play, used it on Logic Pro X and even to control samples and sounds on my Electribe ESX-1 through the MPC One.
Great Mixer/Multitrack Recorder/Controller. It's transformed my workflow, very versatile and flexible option.
Great mic for vocals, give it that nice tube warmth. For me it fits the sound I'm going for.
