Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk2 Controller Review

digitaldjtips.com

The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 impresses with upgraded RGB buttons, sleek design improvements, and seamless iOS integration, making it a robust choice for Traktor users. Its jogwheels and booth output are noteworthy enhancements. However, existing S4 MK1 users might find the upgrades insufficient for the cost. The device shines in compatibility with Traktor DJ and Pro, but iOS-exclusive DJs might prefer the S2 MK2. While not a revolutionary leap, the S4 MK2 is a solid evolution in the series, balancing new features with familiar reliability for dedicated Traktor enthusiasts.

REVIEW: NI Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 DJ Controller – DJWORX

djworx.com

The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 is a solid DJ controller with tight jog wheel integration and robust Remix Deck control, making it ideal for those who need four-deck functionality. Its plug-and-play nature is a highlight, though it lacks intuitive control options for effects routing without external gear. The absence of a USB hub is a missed opportunity for expanded modular functionality. Overall, it’s a good choice for DJs needing extensive Traktor integration, but those seeking straightforward effects control may find it limiting.

Review: Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 and S2 MK2 - DJ TechTools

djtechtools.com

The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 is a solid upgrade with notable enhancements like dedicated Flux Mode buttons, multi-colored backlit pads, and improved jog wheels. While the integration with iOS devices is a plus, the lack of compatibility with iOS 7 and some noise issues with USB power are drawbacks. Despite these minor setbacks, the S4 MK2 retains its excellent build quality and audio interface, making it an enticing option for Traktor users looking to maximize their setup without a significant price increase.

Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 Digital DJ Controller Review – DJBooth

djbooth.net

The Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 impresses with its robust integration with Traktor Pro 2 software, offering an all-in-one DJ solution that boasts advanced features like RGB buttons, high-res jog wheels, and seamless iOS compatibility. While its build quality is commendable, the lack of XLR outputs and a plastic-feeling crossfader may deter some. Despite these minor setbacks, it remains a top choice for professional DJs seeking powerful control over Traktor software.

The Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 impresses as a top-tier DJ controller with its sleek design and compatibility with Traktor's innovative software, including the iOS app. Its standout features, like aluminum jog wheels and backlit RGB buttons, enhance both functionality and aesthetics. While the controller is a forward-thinking tool for dedicated Traktor users, the abundance of text on the device may detract from its otherwise polished appearance. Overall, it's a solid investment for DJs looking to leverage Traktor's cutting-edge capabilities.

Best Controller on the Market

The S4 has the tactility of a CDJ but the ease of an everyday controller, having the build quality of a $2000 setup but at a quarter of the price. I've used it for several years and it has never failed me. The software works great as well but you may need to downgrade to earlier versions if you are using apple lossless files or using songs from the iTunes store because it cannot read ALAC or M4A files.

versatile controller

Does everything I need and more. It's my main gear for live sets, now days I use it more in the studio to sample into my MPC. I have my record player connected it as well. I've made beats on this years ago just for fun, It's intuitive and fun to play with.

Great Stuff!

Traktor Pro is arguable the best DJ software due to its wide support and modularity, and S4 MK2 integrates seamlessly with it. The S4 also works with Traktor DJ (for iOS), is well laid out. It would be nice to have extra hot cue buttons, however; I find myself using more than 4 on a regular basis.

Best Controller So Far

As a slowly growing DJ and producer, I think by far that Traktor S4 Mk 2 is the best controller I've used. It's easy to learn, it's got all kinds of cool features, and is fun to use, whether on stage or at home.

Native Instruments knew what they were doing

Ultimately the best All-In-One DJ Controller. It can handle anything that is thrown at it! The fact that I can use my iPad instead of my computer has made it way more mind blowing because no one will believe me when I pull out the iPad and just rock a set. The faders are very solid for massive throws. Every button and every detail was taken into account. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about getting into DJing!

Great for DJing

This is one of my top 3 favorite controllers for live playing. it's really easy to work with S4 MK2 and the main reason to be on of my favorites is the internal sound card with is with great sound quality.

The worst Made in China

Very cheap components and easy to broke, the worse made in China, you have to change it every year if you wanna play safe

whalebonesaw

Love it.

-Great controller for beginner and experienced DJ's. -Perfect step up from the S2 -Extra decks can be used to route external DAW's like Maschine through for those who don't really care for 4 deck mixing.

Best Entry Level Controller

First Controller I've ever had. Worked great. You have complete control of traktor with this controller.

G

How much was it asking you because you are the most recent buyer.

digibilly

Not the best but does the job.

If you are a Stem or Remix Deck user, you might have to make a few mods to the midi-mapping for more intuitive use.
